The team helps partners deliver a strong end-customer experience, and is often the last stop for deciding next steps and solutions. As an Installer Support Engineer, you will give real-time diagnostics and solutions to trained on-site technicians during install and maintenance of Tesla residential solar, storage, and home charging products. You will build deep product knowledge, remotely access and troubleshoot equipment, and become a subject matter expert. Strong candidates already know residential energy. Experience in IT, networking, telecommunications, or security systems is beneficial.

What You’ll Do

  • Troubleshoot proprietary power electronics systems and supporting components
  • Review operational logs in proprietary and non-proprietary tools
  • Use Linux, SSH, and related tools for advanced remote troubleshooting
  • Handle cases to a high standard: follow-up, documentation, and clear next steps
  • Spot trending issues, gather evidence, and report findings to leadership and engineering
  • Flag process and knowledge gaps that would improve training and resources
  • Build SME-level knowledge of Tesla’s residential energy products

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field, or 2+ years in a relevant technical role
  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Understanding of electrical theory, with experience in AC/DC power systems or other electronic systems, devices, and components
  • Experience troubleshooting metering and communications issues with multiple variables
  • Experience in customer service, technical support, or engineering environments
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions with limited direction, and prioritise across competing cases
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with detailed, accurate case notes
  • Ability to read single-line diagrams for PV and storage systems is a plus
  • Electrical engineering knowledge or experience is a plus
  • Experience in IT, networking, telecommunications, or security systems is a plus
