Introduction/About us

Group IT Strategy, Sourcing & Transformation shapes and supports the execution of the One IT vision across Fresenius. The department brings together IT procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management, enterprise architecture, IT governance and service management to strengthen collaboration, ensure compliance and harmonize IT processes across the Group.

We are looking for an experienced Managing Consultant for Global IT Vendor Management (m/f/d) to lead the strategy, governance, commercial performance and executive relationships for selected strategic IT vendors. In this role, you will help protect contractual value, improve supplier performance, coordinate commercial and third-party risks, and ensure that strategic vendor relationships deliver measurable and sustainable business outcomes.

Your responsibilities

  • Vendor strategy: Develop and maintain short- and long-term strategies for assigned strategic IT vendors, with measurable objectives covering cost optimization, service performance, technology adoption, innovation, contractual protection, flexibility and overall value.
  • Contract lifecycle: Coordinate contractual obligations, commercial milestones, amendments, change orders, renewals, termination planning and exit readiness. Maintain a forward-looking renewal pipeline and ensure that contractual decisions receive the approvals and signatures required under applicable company policies.
  • Commercial governance: Monitor spend, consumption, commitments, pricing mechanisms, indexation, credits, penalties, caps, thresholds and other contractual levers. Identify potential commercial leakage and optimization opportunities and coordinate approved actions with Finance, Procurement, product owners and vendors.
  • Vendor performance: Establish and operate vendor scorecards covering service, commercial, financial, risk, innovation and stakeholder dimensions. Validate performance information, identify root causes and trends, and coordinate corrective and continuous-improvement plans.
  • Governance: Design and facilitate strategic, tactical and operational governance forums with appropriate participants, decision rights, escalation paths, agendas, cadence and documented actions. Lead executive Quarterly Business Reviews and track agreed commitments through to closure.
  • Sourcing and negotiations: Partner with Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Legal and other relevant functions on sourcing events, renewals and complex negotiations. Conduct market analysis, benchmarking and commercial scenario modelling and prepare decision-ready business cases for the applicable approval bodies.
  • Third-party risk: Maintain a consolidated view of vendor-related risks and coordinate assessments, reporting and remediation with accountable functions such as Information Security, Data Protection, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Procurement and Business Continuity. Escalate material risks through the applicable governance channels.
  • Stakeholder relationships: Act as a primary commercial and governance interface between assigned strategic vendors and internal stakeholders. Facilitate cross-functional decisions, manage escalations and translate complex commercial, performance and risk matters into clear recommendations.

Your qualifications

  • Substantial relevant experience in strategic IT vendor management, technology sourcing, contract and commercial management, procurement or a comparable supplier-governance role in a complex international organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex and strategically important IT contracts or vendor portfolios, including commercial governance, service levels, contractual obligations, renewals, disputes and exit provisions.
  • Strong commercial and contractual expertise, including negotiation, benchmarking, business-case development, cost optimization and the application of contractual value levers.
  • Experience establishing and operating vendor-performance and governance frameworks, including scorecards, KPIs, SLAs, executive reviews, improvement plans and escalation processes.
  • A sound understanding of third-party risk management, including supplier due diligence, information security, data protection, compliance, financial risk and operational resilience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix organization, influence senior internal and supplier stakeholders, resolve complex escalations and facilitate decisions without relying on direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret commercial, financial, performance and risk information and present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Business-fluent English, required for global stakeholder and vendor engagement. German language skills are an advantage for collaborating with stakeholders based in Germany.
