The Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join a collaborative, cross\-functional product engineering team, developing and enhancing high\-quality mobile applications using React Native, with a particular focus on Android.
You will play a key role in technical design, application development and architectural decisions, helping deliver scalable, reliable and user\-friendly mobile solutions. Working closely with product, design and business stakeholders, you will translate customer requirements into effective technical solutions while contributing to engineering best practices and continuous improvement.
This is an opportunity for an experienced mobile engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, taking ownership of projects and contributing to the development of both products and people.
Key Responsibilities
**Mobile Application Development:**
Design, develop and maintain high\-quality mobile applications using React Native, with a strong focus on Android.
* **Technical Architecture:**
Make informed technical decisions around application architecture, platform\-specific behaviour, dependencies and deployment processes.
* **Code Quality:**
Produce clean, maintainable and well\-documented code, following established engineering standards and mobile development best practices.
* **Testing and Reliability:**
Implement and maintain automated testing strategies to ensure application quality, stability and performance.
* **Business Collaboration:**
Work closely with product managers, designers and stakeholders to understand customer needs and translate them into practical technical solutions.
* **Delivery and Planning:**
Contribute to technical estimation, solution design and delivery planning to support predictable project outcomes.
* **Code Reviews and Knowledge Sharing:**
Participate in technical discussions, review code and share knowledge across the engineering team.
* **Technical Leadership:**
Take ownership of complex initiatives, support and mentor other engineers, and contribute to improving development processes.
* **Continuous Improvement:**
Identify opportunities to improve application performance, engineering standards and the overall user experience.
Required Experience and Skills
**React Native:**
Strong commercial experience developing and maintaining mobile applications using React Native.
* **Android Development:**
Good understanding of native Android development, ideally with experience using Java and/or Kotlin.
* **Production Applications:**
Demonstrable experience building, releasing and supporting mobile applications in live production environments.
* **Mobile Engineering:**
Strong understanding of Android platform capabilities, mobile UI/UX principles and application lifecycle management.
* **API Integration:**
Experience integrating REST APIs and managing application data.
* **Automated Testing:**
Understanding of unit, integration and end\-to\-end testing approaches for mobile applications.
* **CI/CD and Cloud:**
Familiarity with modern build and deployment pipelines, continuous integration and continuous delivery. Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS is beneficial.
* **Product Mindset:**
Ability to understand user requirements and deliver features that provide measurable value.
* **Communication:**
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross\-functional engineering teams.
* **Security:**
Awareness of mobile application security, data protection and secure development practices.
* **Language:**
Fluent written and spoken English.
Desirable Experience
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
Advanced native Android development using Kotlin or Java.
* Integrating native Android modules into React Native applications.
* Mobile application performance profiling and optimisation.
* Offline\-first application design and data synchronisation.
* Improving mobile application architecture, scalability and maintainability.
