What to Expect

We are looking for a Technical Program Manager to own the integrated plan for the infrastructure projects that support Engineering, R&D and Remanufacturing across EMEA. You will report to the Manager, Infrastructure – Special Projects and work with Design, Engineering, Construction and the Construction Manager. You will drive each project from early feasibility through scoping, design, execution and close-out and keep scope, schedule, cost and risk visible. You will run complex, multi-discipline projects with minimal direction and act as the point of contact for schedule, budget and progress. The portfolio can span more than one country. You will set how the program is run, not only the plan for one project, and report trade-offs to leadership with a recommendation. The role is decentralized across EMEA and you must be based in the region. Berlin is an option, not a requirement. Travel to project sites is expected.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead assigned projects from feasibility and permitting through scoping, design, procurement, execution, handover and close-out, coordinating procurement and contract setup with the Construction Manager so packages are biddable and aligned to the plan
  • Build the roadmap and integrated plan and make sure Design, Engineering, Construction and the end user have the inputs they need before a missing decision stops the work
  • Own schedule, milestones, dependencies and the stage-gate rhythm, flagging slippage early with a cause and a recovery action and identify resource gaps (including engineering or modelling capacity) before a deadline is missed
  • Own budget and forecast inputs with the Manager, Infrastructure – Special Projects and each discipline lead and surface cost and schedule trade-offs before they become surprises
  • Run the risk and opportunity process by keeping one register, assigning owners and driving actions to an acceptable level
  • Act as the primary contact for internal stakeholders on progress, priorities and handover criteria (including permitting and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) interfaces), maintain the digital delivery record in Tesla's common data environment as the single source of truth for scope and keep Infrastructure Development (InfraDev) reporting current and accurate
  • Set the program standard for how Special Projects are planned and reported and mentor others in that rhythm

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Engineering, Construction or Project Management, or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong, demonstrable experience managing complex technical or industrial projects, including multi-discipline work. Experience across more than one country is an advantage
  • Advanced skills in scheduling, cost control, stage gates and dependency management
  • Working knowledge of bidding and of commercial and contractual issues, enough to challenge a package before it is awarded, plus the ability to review a design, identify gaps and secure decisions from engineers, designers, contractors and end users
  • Advanced understanding of project processes, EHS interfaces, quality expectations and document control
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Microsoft Project and in Tesla's project systems
  • Based in EMEA (Berlin is an option, not a requirement), willing to travel to project sites and fluent in English. German is an advantage (expected if based in Germany) and Dutch is a plus
